Pantang Larang

I really don't understand bout all this chinese pantang larang. Rodney's wife just gave birth to a baby boy last week, when i asked the gang to give them a visit non of them wanna go. All said that's it's pantang to visit them during this time. According to them it'll bring bad lucks. I really don't understand why a newborn will bring bad lucks by just visiting them. Newborns should be bringing joys and laughters to this world rite? If they bring bad lucks then why you choose to give birth to them in the first place? 'Accident'?? haha
Hmm .. Does that mean that to chinese we all brings bad lucks when we are born? Does that mean that whoever that work in the hospital will get bad lucks since there's newborn babies there everyday. They take care of the mother and baby everyday.
When asked them why is it so no one can give me an answer. They just say it's a pantang only. Can someone enlighten me on this pantang? This is one of those chinese pantangs that i find ridiculous. :P
